Brief description of self: I am a creative, multifaceted woman.

Long Description of self: My name is Ana Šušilović. My art business is called Anchi’s Art. The reason behind the name is my grandparents called me Anchi growing up and we were very close. I got my talent from my grandma Olga and they always encouraged me to keep pursuing it. I am Serbo-Croatian, currently reside in the DMV. I am an artist with a day job and a brand new mom. One day I hope to fully dedicate my time to art but until then I enjoy creating pieces that brighten other peoples lives and evoke emotion.

What I create: I create paintings on canvas, wood and walls. My paintings are usually vibrant creations of the world around me, from people to places. I love to create women in an empowering light. I have also done some abstract work.

Project Description: Woman, Mother, Queen

Medium & why: Acrylic paint and gold leaf on canvas. That is my medium prefernece.

Favorite part of the creative process: Seeing the emotion from the person who the artwork is intended for.

The most challenging part of the process: Getting started!

Inspiration of this creation: My amazing sister and watching her become a mama for the first time. This painting was started right as I got pregnant in 2021 and I finally finished it last month next to my 6 month old baby.

Advice to other aspiring artists: Create from your heart, dont worry about following trends & do what inspires YOU. It will lead you to an amazing creative and authentic journey.

Testimonial: “Creating artwork allows your mind to be in a safe place while it contemplates the tougher issues you are dealing with. One can use the tools of brush, paint, pastels, crayons etc to expose and even for a short time color those issues in a different light.”  ~ George E. Miller

Advice to other aspiring artists: There are going to be a million people who tell you that your art is bad, that it won’t go anywhere, that your wasting your time, you’ll get the looks and the weird smiles when you try to explain your creative process to people, you’ll get the friends who are there to support you but don’t take the time to understand and listen to the components one of YOUR pieces takes…
